Sheila Hicks a MiArt 2016

For the second year in a row, following the invitation of MiArt, the Milan international modern and contemporary art fair, Nicoletta Rusconi Art Projects has designed and implemented the project of a VIP lounge, where to welcome and give a cosy space to collectors, curators and speakers, and involve a new audience of art lovers from the business world, once again in collaboration with a leading brand of the Italian textile industry. For the 2016 edition we cooperated with the American artist Sheila Hicks. Who better than this "fiber artist", Parisian by adoption, could think of an installation with simple linen threads. The result was a fascinating and strong work, presented in the VIP lounge on occasion of MiArt 2016, and then re-installed for a larger audience during the Salone del Mobile in the showroom of the brand.

Sheila Hicks was born in Nebraska in 1934, and since 1964 she lives and works in Paris. She studied with Josef Albers at Yale and immediately dedicated herself to the exploration and practice of textile art. The works by Sheila Hicks are part of various museum collections, like the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, The Art Institute of Chicago, the Museo de Bellas Artes in Santiago de Chile and the Museums of Modern Art in Tokyo and Kyoto.
